Les GPS vacillent, les esprits s'émancipent de toute destination finale… le premier EP de PAPER TAPES « Homecoming » sortira le 09 octobre sur Géographie.

Originaire de Lyon, installé à Paris et membre des flamboyants Brace ! Brace ! (Howlin’ Banana), Cyril Angleys déroule, sous le pseudo PAPER TAPES, une pop libre, aventureuse et immédiate.

Influencé par la musique de films des années 70, les outsiders devenus héros que sont Stereolab et Air, la pop psychée de Todd Rundgren ou encore le R'n'B des premiers albums de The Neptunes, il assume avec audace et finesse son insouciance du temps et des genres.

C'est en composant avec Brace ! Brace ! qu'il ressent ce besoin, cette envie de se lancer dans un projet solo. Boîtes à rythmes, synthés… durant l'été 2018, il commence à écrire et expérimenter chez lui, dans son studio du 18ème, avant d'enregistrer au Point FMR.

Avec « Homecoming », co-produit par Barth Bouveret (Brace ! Brace !, Good Morning TV, Marble Arch) PAPER TAPES nous offre un premier EP magnétique et lumineux. Cinq petits tubes lovés entre soft rock moderne et pop émancipée, à écouter en voyage ou à la maison… même si on sait que les voyages débutent toujours à la maison.

GPSs flicker, spirits emancipate themselves from any final destination… PAPER TAPES’ first EP « Homecoming » will be out October 9th. on Geographie.

Native of Lyon (FR), living in Paris and a member of the band Brace ! Brace ! (Howlin’ Banana), Cyril Angleys delivers, under the pseudo PAPER TAPES, an adventurous and immediate pop.

Influenced by the 70s film score, the outsiders that became heroes like Stereolab and Air, the psyched pop from Todd Rundgren or the R’n’B from the first The Neptunes’ albums, he assumes boldly but with finesse his carelessness of time and genres.

It is while composing with Brace! Brace! That he feels the need, this desire to start a solo project. Drum machines, synthesizers… he starts writing and experimenting from home, in his flat during the 2018 summer.

With « Homecoming », co-produced by Barth Bouveret (Brace ! Brace!, Good Morning TV, Marble Arch) PAPER TAPES offers us a first magnetic and luminous EP. Five little hits nestled between some modern soft rock and emancipated pop, to listen to while traveling or at home… even though we know travels always start home.
